High-T coefficients of thermal expansion near a surface

The high-temperature coefficients of thermal expansion have been calculated in the quasiharmonic approximation for the (111) surface of a Lennard-Jones solid. The lower bound on αsurface/αbulk is 1.6, and this ratio undergoes a substantial increase with temperature. © 1972.
