Fairness and throughput of resource allocation in space-time OFDM-CDMA based wireless networks Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • In order to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS) for different users in wireless broadband networks, advanced techniques such as Space-Time (ST) processing and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) are implemented at the physical layer. However, the employment of such techniques evidently affects the resource allocation algorithms at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer scheme of resource allocation algorithms based on space-time OFDM-CDMA systems for data transmissions. We mainly focus on QoS requirements of the proportional bandwidth fairness and best-effort throughput. Also, we derive the optimal tradeoff between the fairness and throughput. Our extensive simulations show that the proposed infrastructure and algorithms can improve the bandwidth fairness and system throughput significantly over wireless networks.
