The TwinSol low-energy radioactive nuclear beam apparatus: status and recent results Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • We describe recent results using the fully implemented version of the twin superconducting solenoid magnet low-energy radioactive nuclear beam (RNB) apparatus "TwinSol". In particular a number of recent experiments involve implantation and subsequent measurements using short-lived nuclear beams such as 8Li, 6He, 7Be and 8B. Several are described. Many of these exploit special features of the twin-solenoid design. Recent improvements include a major upgrade (to 10 MV) of the University of Notre Dame Van de Graaff accelerator and the addition of a low-background beam line extension for RNB-induced gamma-ray measurements. 2003 Elsevier Science B.V.
