abstract
The quench simulations of a 16T 1 m-long prototype dipole being developed at Texas A&M University are presented. The protection of the prototype can be accomplished by using dump resistors and heaters. The laminar springs introduced into each coil block for the stress management provide cooling channels which bring liquid helium into thermal contact with the cable.
