abstract
Rotational-echo double-resonance 13 C{ 2 H} NMR has been used to characterize the chain packing in a 13 C, 2 H-labeled ethoxyphenyl-substituted bisphenol A polycarbonate. Approximately 36% of the repeat units are locally ordered, and between 85% and 95% of carbonate linkages are trans. The local order in interchain packing is correlated with the local order of intrachain conformations of the carbonate linkages.
