abstract
A novel ion mobility (IM)-surface-induced dissociation (SID)-mass spectrometer consisting of two independent time-of-flight (TOF) mass analyzers is described. The dual TOF instrument configuration facilitates high-throughput post-ionization separation and mass analysis of precursor and fragment ions, and the utility of 3D data acquisition is demonstrated for top-down proteomics by performing simultaneous acquisition of peptide mass maps and amino acid sequence determination. 2008 Elsevier B.V.
