A New Form of Coordinated Carbon: A C3 Chain That Is Anchored by a Transition Metal on Each End and Spanned by a Third Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • A trirhenium carbene complex containing a C3OMe core, prepared from [Re]CCLi, [Re2(CO)10], and Me3OBF4, leads to complex 1 after abstraction of the methoxy group with BF3 and skeletal rearrangement. According to X‐ray crystal structure analysis, 1 exists predominantly as the resonance structure shown on the right. [Re] = (η5‐C5Me5)Re(NO)(PPh3). (Figure Presented.)
