abstract
Thanks to the unusual folding of the diazacyclooctane ligand, which normally blocks an axial position of the metal center, the paramagnetic, blue nickel complex 1 containing a hexacoordinate central Ni atom could be synthesized. In the crystal the O atom of the carboxyl group not coordinated to the Ni center participates in hydrogen bonding with water molecules to form a threedimensional network. (Figure Presented.)
