abstract
A better than 95% pure monophasic 110 K (n = 3 phase) superconductor of the Bi1.5Pb0.5(Ca, Sr)n+1CunO2n+4+ family of oxides has been prepared starting from the ideal composition of Bi1.5Pb0.5Ca2Sr2Cu3Ox showing a superconducting transition at 102 K. The possibility of preparation of this oxide starting from other compositions such as Bi0.7Pb0.3CaSrCu2Ox and Bi1.84Pb0.34Ca2.03Sr1.91Cu3.06Ox has been investigated in detail. Preparation of the n = 4 member of this family has also been attempted. The advantages of hot pressing over cold pressing will be discussed briefly. The phases have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity and high-frequency phase impedance measurements. 1990.
