abstract
Ion exchange of alkali metal cations and Cu2+ with -zirconium phosphate has been found to be irreversible. This is attributed to strong site binding. The cations are coordinated by water molecules and negative lattice oxygens in a stable arrangement. Site binding is also suggested as an explanation for the failure to produce fully exchanged alkali metal cation phases when -zirconium phosphate is titrated with mixed metal chloride-metal hydroxide solutions. 1979.
