abstract
AlPO4-8, a 14-ring molecular sieve, has been prepared by direct synthesis and crystallized in pure form. The crystal structure of the dehydrated phase of AlPO4-8 was refined from X-ray powder data. The crystals belong to the space group Cmc21 with a = 33.227(1), b = 14.745(1) and c = 8.3807(7) . The structure consists of alternating Al and P atoms in the tetrahedral environment. In the hydrated AlPO4-8 the water molecules interact with the Al atoms at the intersection of the 4-rings in a manner similar to that observed in the case of VPI-5. 1993.
