Intended for use as a graduate level text organised into four parts: Introduction to climate models; five chapters on Quaternary climates; a futher 5 chapters on pre-Quaternary climates; a concluding part with two chapters ("Summary and synthesis of past climates' and "Paleoclimatic perspectives on a greenhouse warming'). There are 4 appendices covering the geological timescale, proxy data, time series analysis and an annotated bibliography on selected reference works followed by some 1700 references and an index. -K.Clayton
