FADDEEV APPROACH TO COLLINEAR 3 BODY PROBLEM WITH NUMERICAL RESULTS Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • An integral equation approach is taken to the collinear three body problem in which initially particles 2 and 3 are bound and 1 is incident. The problem is simplified by taking the model of attractive -function potentials for the individual pairs of particles. The analytic properties of the Faddeev amplitudes leading to the six final states are studied as an aid to setting up a procedure for solving the equations numerically. Numerical procedures are developed and the results presented for a simple example, which was previously solved analytically by McGuire. This work represents the first step in a program of treating the chemical rearrangement problem by Faddeev methods.
