High isotacticity catalysts for impact copolymers Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Impact polypropylene (PP) copolymer remains one of the hottest topics in polyolefins. Customers are demanding products with high-performance properties, and producers must respond with reliable, cost-effective solutions to meet expectations. In this presentation, recent progress and success of Engelhard's Lynx 1000 catalyst technology for polypropylene impact copolymers will be highlighted. We will then focus on the influence of microstructure and monomer sequence distribution in copolymer on phase morphology, interface structure, fracture behavior and mechanical properties. Further, the effect of polypropylene matrix properties, especially isotacticity, on the performance of impact copolymers will be discussed. As an example, Engelhard's recently developed Lynx 1000 HC catalyst technology will be highlighted to demonstrate how it pushes the envelope on polymer stiffness and toughness and its role in designing impact copolymer resins. A Fortune 500 surface and materials science company, Engelhard is a leading provider in the supply of polymerization technologies and value-added materials to the polyolefins industry. In particular, Engelhard has a rich legacy and unwavering commitment to the development and application of innovative solutions to meet the needs of polypropylene producers.
