Scratch behavior of anisotropic polypropylene surfaces Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Effects of additives and processing-induced surface orientation on scratch behavior of PP were investigated using a new ASTM test methodology. Material science tools were utilized to determine the underlying scratch damage mechanisms. Scratch-induced visibility was also quantified using image analysis tools. To further understand the scratch damage process, FEM modeling was also performed and correlated with the observed scratch damage. Approaches for improving scratch resistance of TPOs are discussed.
