Influence of nanofiller structure on gas permeability and mechanical properties of epoxy/α-zirconium phosphate nanocomposites

The morphology, gas permeability and physical/ mechanical properties of synthetic α-zirconium phosphate based epoxy nanocomposites with variations in degree of exfoliation are investigated. The state of exfoliation and dispersion is directly confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) at different locations of the samples. The fundamental structure-property relationship of α-ZrP reinforced epoxy nanocomposites as a function of degree of exfoliation of α-ZrP layer structure is discussed.
