abstract
2016 Author(s). Single crystals of fcc Fe20Ni20Mn20Cr20Co20 (atom percent) high entropy alloy oriented along the [1-11] direction are used to study flow curves and deformation mechanisms - slip, twinning under tensile deformation at early stages of plastic flow, = 2.5-5.0%, at the test temperature of 77 and 296 K. It is shown that twinning in [1-11] -oriented single crystals is observed from the beginning of plastic flow when = 2.5-5.0% from 77 to 296 K. Plastic flow in [1-11]-oriented single crystals under tension is developed with the high strain hardening coefficients 1800 and 2000 MPa, respectively, at 296 and 77 K. It is also characterized by a good plasticity of 58 and 60% and by a high level of stresses before fracture, 980 and 1580 MPa, respectively, at 296 and 77 K.
