abstract
Various constitutive descriptions for the behavior of crazes in glassy polymers are reviewed. Both rate dependent and rate independent material models are considered together with criteria for craze and crack growth. The implications of these models on the stability of craze and crack growth are examined and the role of material rate dependence is emphasized.
