ISSUES IN THE FINITE-ELEMENT MODELING OF POLYPHASE PLASTICITY Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Finite element methods are increasingly being used for modeling the plastic deformation of a variety of polyphase materials. In this note, we highlight some recent advances, with specific examples, in the computational modeling of plasticity in crystalline metals and composites. Issues related to modeling of microstructure, characterization of plastic flow and modeling of progressive damage are discussed. Some computational modeling issues are also described. 1994.
