CYCLIC DEFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF AGED FeNiCoAlTa SINGLE CRYSTALS Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • The cyclic deformation behavior of [001] oriented Fe-28Ni-17Co-11.5Al-2.5Ta (at.%) shape memory single crystals was investigated under tension. Dog-bone shaped specimens were tested up to 100 cycles after different aging heat treatments in order to characterize the cyclic stressstrain response and functional degradation. The smaller particles formed as a consequence of short aging for 1 h at 700C, as compared to longer aging for 7 h, resulted in significantly enhanced resistance to cyclic degradation.
