Materials data curation: Introduction proceedings Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Copyright 2015 MS & T15. In collaboration with the National Institute of Technology, and the Department of Biology here at Texas A&M, I have been working within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering to establish a materials data workflow using the Materials Data Curator System (MDCS). Using historical examples from the bioinformatics community as a guide, it is our intention to develop a mechanism for formalizing databases within our own community. The MDCS is intended to be used as a unification method for creating and sharing data and metadata sets. Each of our collaborators is assisting in a different capacity as developers, users, alpha-testers, data contributors' etc. to accomplish our goal. It is the mission of this project to push forward the Materials Genomics Initiative and bridge different areas of material science research as benefit to ourselves, the community and world.
