abstract
Bivalves of the H.S. Lee Formation biota of Malaysia, the most diverse Permian molluscan-dominated biota in the Tethyan province, are described. The H.S. Lee biota contains a great abundance of giant clams of the family Alatoconchidae, but overall bivalve diversity is low compared to that of the highly diverse gastropods. Bivalve species in this biota are known only from the H.S. Lee Formation or the Akasaka Limestone of Japan, another alatoconchid-bearing formation. One genus, Permartella, and three species, Permartella quadrata, Prospondylus chintongia, and Pernopecten malaysia, are described new in this report. Author
