abstract
The occurrence and development of washed basin floors (dambos) and whalebacked inselbergs (dwalas) are dependent upon certain conditions. Those dambos, which are aggradational forms built up by differentiated material, point to alternating phases of selective deep weathering and sheet wash erosion, channel incision and accumulation. The reason for such phases with different morphodynamic activities are either caused by tectonic influences or by changes in climate as supported by investigations in other dambo environments of Zambia.-from Authors
