abstract
During the night of August 9, 1980, Hurricane Allen crossed Padre Island, Texas, causing a variety of morphological changes The extent and form of changes appear to have been influenced by man-made structures on the more heavily developed portions of the island Future development and planning activities must recognize the dynamic nature of a barrier island subject to periodic hurricane influence in order to minimize property damage 1984 Springer-Verlag New York Inc.
