abstract
The authors discuss the methods of evaluating the quality of life, and the problems associated with indexes, including lack of agreement as to variables and the cross-cultural differences. They provide another measure of the quality of life (including the resource base) which is somewhat more inclusive and complex than others. They find virtually no relationship between the quality of life and the national resource base and they suggest that natural resources are more important in the earlier stages of development. -from Editors
