Increased patron demands for library services and administrative expectations of excellent library budget stewardship have led to several changes at the Texas A&M University Medical Sciences Library. The expansion in open hours of service, an increase in document delivery requests, and recent library renovations under the stress of a fixed budget have all led to new ideas in maximizing student worker assistance and improving efficiencies. Careful hiring, training, and evaluating of student assistants keep service at a high level while keeping costs under control.
