This SBBIR project was a partnership between Texas A&M University and Austin-based FoVI-3D. My role was to define the Department of Visualization's participation. The work on the project was led by Anatol Bologan. The project built upon previous Department of Defense (DoD) and FoVI3D internally funded light-field display research to improve the usability and system performance of a light-field display for real-time battlefield visualization. The primary goal of light-field visualization is to reduce the cognitive burden on the soldiers and increase confidence in their decisions while analyzing complex three-dimensional data.
